E-MAIL #28 ~ 12/7/07Dear Family and Friends,After one Day of Freedom, Jack is back in the Hospital in Room 1148. He was too weak to do anything and needs more time to get physical therapy and get used to eating again to get stronger.. Also, his donor-host disease is still not totally healed and he developed a rash from it which needs to be treated with steroids, and on and on. One medication causes a side effect which needs to be treated with another medication, etc. I picked up 32 medications from the pharmacy for him, and now he can not even take them. Jack is however, a lot better and clearer now, no more heavy pain medication. He knows now what he has to work on to get out.I'll be staying here at the Rotary House until Monday and then fly back each weekend and stay here until he gets out again. I gave up the Church-sponsored apartment because it would have been to difficult to get Jack from there to his outpatient appointments so I had a change plans (again). All that really matters though is that Jack is getting better. Please keep Jack in your prayers, I feel he is on his way but not quite there yet.Barbara |
