I seek balance in all I do. My life is at the service of the Gospel and these little activities (dabblings) relax me to then pursue my ministry. This is how I often spend my free time, watching the world at whim. These ten things I do playfully, in fits and starts, without serious intent. |
1. |
I dabble with my Web Site, sometimes in burning CDs of old music for my friends. |
2. |
I dabble in writing. Some writing is about word play and puzzles. Some of my writing is for the Korean Newspaper. At a few hundred dollars a month, it is still dabbling. |
3. |
I read both the San Francisco Chronicle and Marin IJ everyday. That's one hour a day dabbled away.
|
4. |
I dabble in our backyard, sitting in hot tub and watering the backyard flowers. We bought our house in 1992 and I always have some sort of project going. I have heard that a house is a man's largest toy.
|
5. | When I'm at home, and even at work in SF, I envoy music. My ears dabble, while I multitask with other more important activities. |
6. |
I sometimes dabble in elections, working as a deputy inspector at my local precinct. I am not always happy with the
outcome. |
7.
|
I listen to two radios much of the day. One radio is tuned to our local public radio station -- KQED. A second radio -- right next to it -- is tuned to KFAX, my Christian station. When my public radio begins to talk about relgion, I switch to the religious station. When the religious station begins to talk about politics, I switch back to public radio.
8. |
I dabble with exercise, trying to bicycle to work a few times a week (14 mile one way). I try to stay in shape (e.g. keep the weight down) at the local Nautilus gym. I walk with Kim on weekends and once in a while hike with the Mount Tam hikers. |
9. |
I dabble in travel and enjoy
taking pictures with my new digital camera. |
10. |
Life is full and I probably dabble (interfere) in the lives of sons Simon Peter and Zachary more that they like. |

These are real dabblers. "Dabblers" whether you call them dabbling ducks, dipping ducks, surface-feeding ducks, river and pond ducks, or puddle ducks, they re the most familiar waterfowl, with about 40 species scattered around the world. Dabblers are the typical waddling, quacking ducks.
