Road Warriors to Six States
Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island

I just have one state left now (Deleware). I have been to all the other 49. Admittedly, this was a wierd thing to do. We left Brooklyn at 5:45 am and retuned at 10:30 pm. In between, we put about 500 miles on the rental car. I joked that this was my "Mount Everest" and Kim and Simon were my accompanying sherpas.

I wrote about this adventure for the Korea Times.

This shows the route. Out of NYC and into Connecticut. Up through Massachusetts and just across the border into Vermont. Double-back about ten miles then east toward the coast. In Lowell, Mass, we bought a lot of room supplies for Simon. Then up though New Hampshire to Maine for a short time, then down the NH coast. We stopped in Cambridge and ate lunch at Harvard Square. It was dark as we headed on through Rhode Island.

We were caught in a massive traffic jam near Bridgeport, Connecticut. When we arrived at Simon's place we put together his chair, bookcase and printer. It was a full but satisfying day.

We zipped through western Massachusetts.

I just stepped over into Vermont long enough for Kim to snap this picture.

In New Hampshire we drove up fast on the toll road, but returned slowly down the Atlantic coast.

We just crossed the state line and looked around in Maine for a few minutes, before heading south again.

We didn't have much time to visit in Boston and decided to have lunch at Harvard Square in Cambridge.

We got to Rhode Island late and snapped this picture of the "Ocean State" near a McDonald's.

Finally back in Brooklyn, I helped Simon assemble some of his stuff

We got up about 8 am on Friday and drove the rental back to Manhattan. We dropped off Simon, missed the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, then found it again. I was happy that Budget Rental didn't charge me extra for the extra miles we put on the car. We got back to SF about 3:30. Zachary picked us up and our visit to NYC was over. It was genuine blessing to be dropped off by one son in Manhattan and then be picked up by another in San Francisco.
