This COVENANT is a binding agreement made in love between Pastor Chris A. Foreman and the members of San Lorenzo First Southern Baptist Church.
This covenant covers the period from October 1st , 2006, to September 30th, 2007.
During the period covered by this covenant, Pastor Foreman agrees to the following responsibilities:
- To serve as pastor of San Lorenzo First Southern Baptist Church.
- To perform all duties of pastor as commonly understood in the Baptist tradition. These include preaching, counseling, teaching, administering, visiting, celebrating the Lord’s Supper and baptisms, as well as officiating at weddings and funerals.
- To spiritually equip the leadership of the church and to meet with them in harmony and in humility.
- To lead the congregation as it reaches out into the community and to the world.
- To motivate members to accomplish the purposes of the church in regard to worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and mission.
- To supervise and work with church staff, providing a unified and harmonious program of events.
- To assist in church communication (bulletin, newsletter, correspondence, and web site)
- To provide leadership for various committees of the Church as time permits.
- To work in cooperation with the East Bay Baptist Association.
- To provide for pulpit supply and for continuity while away from the church either on mission or on vacation.
- To maintain regular office hours and visiting hours in the pastor’s office.
- To glorify God in all aspects of life, to remain faithful to the Gospel message, and to respect the Baptist tradition as reflected in the SBC Faith & Message.

During the period covered by this covenant, members of San Lorenzo First Southern Baptist Church agree to the following responsibilities:
- To work faithfully alongside of Pastor Foreman.
- To pray alongside of and for Pastor Foreman, his wife and his family.
- To recognize and respect Pastor Foreman as the spiritual leader of the congregation.
- To provide for Monday as day of rest and for Saturday as a day of spiritual focus.
- To provide compensation as follows:
- Considerations used to determine the cash salary of the pastor are: comparable salaries offered by other SBC churches of similar size in the local association, by the qualifications of the pastor, and by the amount of tithes and offerings received by the church. For the 12 months covered by this covenant the pastor’s annual cash salary is set at _____________. Pay period will be monthly.
- Pastor Foreman and his family have full use of the church parsonage. He will receive the equivalent of one month’s salary as a one-time relocation/moving expense.
- As requested, Pastor Foreman is responsible for his own medical coverage and his own pension.
- Pastor Foreman is released from local church responsibilities for 19 days in the winter time (two Sundays) and 19 days in the summer time (two Sundays) in order to proclaim the Gospel in foreign lands as approved by the church leadership.
- Pastor Foreman accrues one full week of vacation for each 6 months of service.
Both pastor and members agree that:
- This covenant will be reviewed and evaluated during September of each year.
- Either party may terminate this covenant upon 60 days’ written notice.
- In the case of a disagreement on the meaning of terms in this covenant, both pastor and members agree to arbitration by the local Baptist association. Both agree to be bound by the decision of the association.
