RE: Mission Report

The 2007CASA Mission trip was a tremendous experience and I believe was also a tremendous success...Praise The Lord. Each of the four team members had many activities scheduled and all were accomplished, with great results.

In addition to my photographing most of the activities during the mission trip, I taught a class in basic SLR photography to National University of Rwanda students. To faciliate this class, members of Tiburon Baptist Church donated 10 SLR cameras, which survived the trip to Rwanda, and were used by the students and left at CASA, for students to check out for their experimentation in photography.

Contents of the course included learning features of a SLR camera, f-stops and aperture, shutter speeds, composition of a photograpgh, and a practical exercise. After the students completed the practical exercise, their photographs were quickly developed, and the top five photos (out of 192 taken) were singled out as the best of the class, during an in class evaluation of all photos. Special recognition was given to the student who took the best overall photograph in my opinion. All students received a certificate of completion from CASA International. The class was very well received, with 19 enthusiastic students in attendance. These students were very eager to learn this new skill, which opened up new horizons of self expression, and artistic pleasure. Initially, we were to conduct two of these classes with 10 students in each; however, 19 students attended the first class and no one attended the second. For future classes, I reccomend that sign-up sheets be circulated prior to the start of the classes limitting the number of students to 10 per class.

As the unofficial 2007 Mission Photographer, I recorded many Mission activities including 5:30 AM devotions, the building of a house for a widow with Aides and five children, various worship services, monkeys in the National Forest one of which stolen a banana from Pastor Chris and peanuts out of our car, Kim teaching computer courses to NUR professors, and Pastor Chris meeting with other Pastors. There were so many photographic experiences that they are too numerous to mention.

In my opinion, the best part of the 2007 Mission Trip was the interaction with the people of Rwanda. I found that they are very loving, warm and spirit-filled. There is a very obvious love of the Lord and it is evident throughout the country.

In all, I believe our Mission was very successful, as we ministered to the people of Rwanda with the Lord's blessing and guidance.

In His Name,
Don Comfort
