Project 70 x 7

Simon Peter asked his Lord, “How many times should I forgive my brother who offends me? Up to seven times?”

Jesus answered him, “Not seven times, but seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22).

In Rwanda Simon Peter Foreman asked his friends and family, “What could be the theme for this installation art project? I’m hanging seven Rwandan baskets, modeled twelve times to scale.”

His brother, Zachary, suggested “Seventy times Seven”. Each of the seven metal-framed baskets will be covered with fabric and each will have the word FORGIVE emblazoned seventy times in a different language of the world.

Viewers of this installation art will see FORGIVE rendered in four hundred ninety languages. This message is powerful for Rwandese and for all who understand that human flourishing is not possible unless your vocabulary includes the words: "I forgive you."
