Sermon Notes

1. We just returned from Africa. Before we left we asked for prayer.
2. The natural thing is to pray for safety, but as we look at the book of Acts what do we see?
3. The word safety is used only in regard to being in prison.
4. Please do pray for safety, but more, pray that our message be heard.
5. Let's look at two selections of scripture to see eight ways that you should pray for us and for all missionaries:

Colossians 4:2-6   2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

1. God may provide an open door for the Gospel.
2. We may proclaim the mystery of the Gospel, clearly and correctly.
3. We may be wise in the way we act toward outsides.
4. We make the most of every opportunity.
5. Our conversation is always full of grace, seasoned with salt.
6. We may know how to answer everyone.

Ephesians 6:18-20   18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

7. Whenever we open our mouths, words may be given to us.
8. We may declare the Gospel fearlessly.
