Liz and I grew tired of CPC by the time 2015 rolled around. I had some complaints and Liz had some complaints. I wanted to do more ministry and Liz wanted more friends. I knew that Western Hills church was just down the block and I knew Pastor Karl Ortis from my days at the Koren Church. So we attended for a few months and then formally joined in July, 2015.These were my highlights of the two years away from CPC: teaching a men's Bible Study class every Sunday morning. We covered the Gospel of John and most of First Peter; going on three missionary journeys with WHC people, especially Ken and Shirley Hardy. |

In July 2017, we were ready to leave WHC. The sermons were getting bad and always at 70 minutes. This was after 40 minutes of Bible study. Then the church elders were unanymous in asking Karl to resign as pastor. There was a church business meeting, votes were cast, and Karl survived with 55% of the congregation voting to retain him. That's when Liz and I decided to worship elsewhere, and finally returned to CPC. |
