Lesson 13: [The Lay of the Land] We explain and demonstrate the width and breadth of the World Wide Web by visiting several sites. We break down all sites into four groups: Personal Web Sites that are built around a single person; Commercial Web Sites that advertise, require payment, or are an arm of a business; Resource Sites that provide free information about organizations, hobbies, or special interests; Education Sites that are built as school projects or activities. We explain how these blend together. Learners surf various sites and identify types of Web sites.
