Washington, D.C.

I first visited the nation's capitol in 1955.
I don't remember much of the trip, but here are two pictures

My second visit to Washington was in 1971.
A group of demonstrators from Ball State University
traveled in the back of a U-Haul trailer to protest against the war in Viet Nam
"If the government won't stop the war, the people will stop the government"

My third visit to the nation's capitol was as a soldier in 1977
while stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

In 1983, I visited Washington D.C. with Zachary and Simon
The most memorable event was Simon getting lost in the Capitol Building

In recent years I've been to DC several times as I visit Zachary who lives in Northern Virginia.
Here is one trip to see his DC apartment while he was at Catholic U.

I visited Zachary on a return flight from Rwanda just before Obama's inauguration
