Writing in Korean

In January of 1999, I wrote my first column for the San Francisco Korea Times. By the end of 2000, the column was also appearing in the LA Korea Times and across America in many Korean language newspapers.

This column is really a team effort. You might call it a tango between me and my wife. For 14 days I think about what it is that I want to write about. On Saturday, I sit down and in about 2 hours I type out in the English language one single-spaced page about Korea. I try to mix insight and humor, with personal experience. My wife then takes over and for several hours sculpts and polishes the English into Korean. The thoughts are mine, but the words are hers. We hope you like the result.
