Perfect communion with God requires perfect obedience to God, but Adam and Eve chose to go their own way. Instead of listening to a loving God, Eve listened to Satan – the great deceiver – as he spoke with the tongue of a snake. Adam joined Eve as she ate the fruit that God had expressly forbidden them to eat. By their willful disobedience, they fell from grace. Our first mother and father were expelled from paradise. Sin had separated them from God and sin led to death. But God had a plan. In due time, He would send a “second Adam” in the person of His own Son, Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, He sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”. |
