After His baptism, the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After Jesus was tired and hungry, Satan appeared and asked Him to turn stones into bread. Jesus refused saying, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”. Two more times the devil tempted Jesus, first taking Him to the top of the temple and daring him to jump off. Next the devil offered Him all the glory and wealth of the ages if Jesus would just fall down and worship him. Unlike Adam, the first man, Jesus did not yield to temptation. He passed the tests and began His ministry at the age of thirty. |
