Well, the title says it all (except that you have really good taste in boots).I haven't worn most of this stuff since sophomore year in high school. It's really weird. I never got in contact with the Crutchfields. I made one last desperate try and went to the train station at 6 this morning (actually I went all the way to Warsaw). I am fairly certain that they didn't go to Warsaw from Krakow on the 6:15 train. So, I spent a rainy day in Warsaw looking for polish literature in translation. Not much luck. I'll try in Prague next weekend and email Zareen. I did buy some stuff though (a history of Poland, a phrase book, the men's health magazine (British version)). It's so weird. I walked into taco bell in Warsaw. It was so expensive! I don't think that I have paid more than $2 for a dinner in two weeks...I think that you guys will have a lot of fun when you come here. Tell mom that they have a Schindler's list tour. It takes you to the ghetto, factory and other scenes in the movie. Maybe you should rent it just before you come. If you guys are feeling really adventurous, we could all go to Gulbene. It would be neat for you guys to meet all of my Latvian friends and family. And/or we could do Budapest. It will probably be pretty cold for any touristy stuff. I have to write down all of the contacts that I'm making here. I have potential friends to stay with in London, Bristol, Dublin, Brussels, Gdansk, Freiburg, not to mention Zareen and Carolyn (Berlin and oxford) and friends in Moscow and Latvia. I have to keep up correspondence. I just read zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. Have you read that dad? I think I want to maintain a motorcycle...and study Philosophy in grad school. Why didn't you do that? It seems that you have a serious interest in philosophy. Was the philosopher job market in a slump or something?Well, I am well, thanks for the stuff. I just remembered why I didn't bring this pair of blue jeans. The zipper is broken and it keeps on falling down. BJ's cost about $50 here. But mom if you want to shop for clothes this is a pretty good place, especially for leather stuff, handmade stuff. If you guys do send a care package, tortilla chips (no fat) would be good. I went to the American consulate library and checked out an economics text, and a American contemporary art book. I have two weeks from today. It costs about $100 to take a bus from Cracow to Frankfurt. I don't know what you want to do. I really want to see Latvia but I can definitely do it without you. Also it would be much cheaper to stay in Poland/Baltics (but you need a visa for Latvia)Well, gotta go. your loving son, Zach |
