“In the beginning God created.” These are the first words in Genesis – the book of beginnings. From the Gospel of John, we learn that God’s Mighty Son, Jesus Christ – the Eternal Word -- was at His Father’s right hand at this beginning. We also see God’s Spirit hovering over the primeval chaos. The Holy Trinity – in the Persons of Father, Son and Spirit – created all things, visible and invisible, things above and things below. After five days of creative work, God formed the first man and first woman. God made them the crown of His creation. God created them in His Own image and placed them in a paradise called Eden. Then God rested on the seventh day, calling everything in His creation “good”. Adam and Eve, our first ancestors, lived in perfect communion with God, because sin had not yet entered the world. |
