Early on Sunday morning – that first Easter morning – the incredible happened. Death could not keep Jesus in the grave. CHRIST ROSE FROM THE DEAD. Terrified guards ran in panic as an angel rolled away the stone. Mary Magdalene was first to witness the resurrection miracle. She saw the empty grave. She heard the angel speak, “Why are you seeking the living among the dead?” Then Mary actually saw her risen Lord. At her word, Peter and John rushed to the tomb but all they observed were empty grave clothes. They walked away in excited expectation. This is the Good News. This is the true Gospel that all believers must confess: “that Christ died for our sins according to Scriptures; that He was buried and that He rose again on the third day, all according to Scripture.” Hallelujah! Christ arose.
