As a Boy Scout in Troop 104 (then 230), I passed several summers at Camp Betz near Bering Springs, Michigan. This began in about 1959 and went on to 1965.
I can remember four occassionss for traveling to Michigan:

Dad drove us all on a family vacation in 1958. We were test driving our new station wagon. Dad and mom, Charlotte and Eileen, me and Frank all circumnavigated Lake Michigan. Our neighbors behind us, the Buchmans also went along. This was for the grand opening of the Mackanack Bridge.
Frank and I went to Warren Dunes with the Zelens in about 1964.
Just before we left Wisconsin in 1988, I wanted Zachary and Simon to experience a new state, so we camped out in the Upper Penninsula overnight
