35 e-mails chronicling the last year of Jack's life

E-MAIL #10 ~ 6/12/07

I haven't written in a while, mainly because I've been at home and other then going in for weekly blood draws, nothing much is going on. I've felt OK just sort of weak and tired. But I got two pieces of good news in the last week.

First, I got a copy of a letter from Blue cross Blue shield saying that they would cover the bone marrow transplant, the doctor wants to do in August. This is a big deal because it costs about $250,000 to do the procedure and although it will still cost us several thousands of dollars at least I can get it done.

Second, the transplant team called on Tuesday to say that two of my brothers and sisters matched me close enough to do get the blood from to do the transplant. My little sister Eileen and my Little brother Frank. Since they would prefer to have the transplant from the same sex Frank was selected. I called Frank who has a dental practice in Portland Or., and he agreed to come down for a week in August to provide the blood needed for the Transplant. What a blessing to have brothers and sisters that love each other, I'm just hoping maybe some of his brains get transferred also.

I'll be heading back to MD Anderson in Houston on Sunday evening for a week of Chemo, and then will drive back to Colleyville on Friday. My friend Loren will help with the driving to Houston and back. I really don't like to fly after a week of Chemo so as tough as the drive is its worth it to me.

This week end is going to be busy. My Son Patrick has his birthday on Friday, Barbara's birthday is on Saturday (39 again), and Sunday is Fathers day and the day I'll also be flying down to Houston. Busy, but good busy. God Bless you all, and thanks again for your Prayers and help,

Jack
