And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name o the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. As a model for Biblical Missions Study

  1. Missionaries come out of local churches.

  2. Selection of missionaries begins in the local church.

  3. Selection takes place in the midst of prayer and worship.

  4. Missionaries are confirmed by the Holy Spirit.

  5. The local church releases mature and qualified people to God's work.

  6. The local church blesses them and sends them with total support.

KEYS OF DISCIPLESHIP: MENTORED BY JESUS
Luke 8-10

1. MODEL "Watch it done" (Luke 8:1). SHOW--Jesus lived His priorities as the disciples watched. OBSERVATION--The disciples watched as Jesus taught .

2. TEAM "Do it together" (Luke 9:13 ; Luke 9:28). SHARE--Jesus involved His disciples in His life and ministry. PARTICIPATION--The disciples began to minister with Jesus.

3. SOLO "You do it" 2X2 (Luke 9:1, 2). SEND--Jesus passed on His message and authority to His disciples. ACTIVATION--The disciples were entrusted with His mission and they were obedient to share it.

4. EVALUATE "You get checked on it" (Luke 9:10) SUPERVISE--Jesus held His disciples accountable for His ministry. CORRECTION--The disciples shared their experiences, joys, and victories and Jesus gave them encouragement and exhortation as He redirected their focus.

Nine Principles of New Testament Church Planting

  1. There was fellowship among the churches

  2. Apostles planted in four provinces

  3. Focused on large cities

  4. Began in local synagogues

  5. Preached to responsible people

  6. Baptized converts when they made a decision

  7. Remained just long enough to found church

  8. Used fellow workers

  9. Became all things to all people
