The 1970s

  • Ball State University ~ I entered this university in September of 1968 and graduated in June of 1972. I changed, changed again, then changed again.
  • Pictures from the year 1970 both in Whiting and Washinton State
  • Hitch hiking cross-country ~ during the Christmas break (1970/71) I hitchhiked from Ball State to Longview and back again.
  • Of Freaks and Jesus Freaks ~ My life took some twists and turns in college. During my junior year (1971) I was a hippy/freak/revolutionary. During my senior year I looked pretty much the same, but I was a Jesus Freak / Street preacher/revelationary.
  • My Brother Frank was married in July of 72. I was best man even though I arrived late.
  • Longview , Washington ~ I lived with my folks in Longview about six months in 1972 before I went to Korea and about one year after I returned with my new wife.
  • The Peace Corps / Korea ~ After graduating from college, I postponed by adolessence and joined the Peace Corps. I count these years from 1972 through 1974 as the hinge event in my life.
  • Our Wedding ~ I was married in Korea in March 1974. And I am blessed enough to still married to that wonderful person.
  • Married in Korea ~ We lived together in Korea from March to September 1974.
  • Living in Longview ~ My wife and I (and then little Zac) lived in Longview WA for about a year and a half in Sept 1974 to March 1976.
  • Having Kids ~ My first son, Zachary, was born in Longview in 1975. Then Simon Peter joined him in 1977.
  • Joining the Army ~ Without the prospect of a good job, I joined the U.S. Army in 1976.
  • My father died in 1977. With my wife and two sons we were with him for his final days.
  • My family lived the closing years of the 70s in Georgia, Virginia, and Missouri. I bought an electric car and drove it all over FLW.
